Good Choice

This buffer assembly will quiet that spring noise. I suggest getting one weight higher than desired though. I used an H1 to replace a carbine buffer and there wasn't much difference, I put that in another rifle and got an H2 and it was much better. Maybe it just needed a higher weight but I saw it as running a bit light. Now both rifles are running fine and no more spring noise.… read more I left my buffer stop pin in place on both rifles, it isn't too difficult getting the buffer out to clean it when needed and I like that it locks the buffer assembly in the tube. I might take them out at some point but it doesn't effect the buffer so I'm good with them in place.

Great for Over-Gassed AR-10s

The spring assembly worked great for my rifle. Just make sure you have the right combination of buffer tube and buffer length. There seems to be two versions. I had the 7" internal depth buffer tube and the shorter 2.5" buffer.

Typical Armaspec Quality

Not really loving the new recoil spring, but still a great design and product.The new gen isn't swappable with different weights if the weight you need isn't in stock. Again, put it in my "M4-gery" and runs smoother and more quiet; no "sprooong" in my ear.

It fixed my 50 Beowulf

I was having all kinds of malfunctions in my 50 Beowulf. It has an Alexander Arms upper and their magazines but I used a poverty pony lower. I used the recommended GI buffer but was still getting malfunctions with factory ammo. The spring is a quality product, I'll probably get a rifle version for my varmint gun, but I'm still working the kinks out of this platform. It's in a .300 Blackout pistol project. After10 rounds to test function (the first 10 rounds fired through this gun) the bolt was not staying in battery. Newer Gen 3 model

One of the questions for this listing back in April asked if this was Gen 3 or Gen 2 and RS replied saying it was a Gen 2. I just received mine and it is a Gen 3 H with no o-ring and the roll pin on the end instead of the hex screw. Not as smooth as a JP SS but work well at less than 1/3 the price.

These standard weight Armaspec Stealth Recoil Springs work well in my AR15 .556 NATO carbines and the H2 weight in my 7.62x39 AR carbines. They are not as smooth as as the JP SS UNITS but they work well for me at less than 1/3 the price when on sale at ar15discounts.com.

Armaspec spring is reliable so far!

So far, I've been using various weights of these Armaspec Stealth Recoil Springs successfully in 16" 5.56 carbine-length gas system rifles and a 10.5" .300BLK pistol-length gas system pistol. They also seem to help make a cheap rifle feel more like a well-sorted high-end rifle. No spring noise.

I shoot suppressed so the buffer spring noise in my ear gets annoying after a while so I figured I would give this a try. I was very surprised to hear what a difference it makes. First impressions are that I'm probably going to buying a lot more of these for my other AR's.

Functionally almost identical to JP SCS

I have both the JP SCS and the SRS. In terms of feel when cycling the weapon and in hand, the SCS definitely feels smoother and like a more refined part. However, when actually shooting, they are both markedly smoother than a standard carbine spring, and also completely silent. Very good. I have only taken it out once since bought for about 80 rounds of .223. I cannot say, as some have, that it is absolutely silent, but it is significantly quieter, and lighter than my old setup. Not a universal replacement

I bought it for an AR to try to get rid of the spring noise. It did not cycle as reliably as using the spring and buffer. Also, it was not compatible with some other BCG's I have. The hole in the back of the BCG is too small to allow the bolt to go back.. Anyway, it looks well built and I will be trying it in another build.

Did not cycle properly

Bought this for my 16" 450 Bushmaster upper. After 2 5 round mags of Hornady 245 SP. the bolt never caught and 3 times a case did not eject.

H2 did the trick

Had the H in my 300 HAM’R and recoil was still substantial. Went with the H2 and now recoil is similar to 10.5" 5.56 AR pistol. Very pleased with the result.

THE answer to the sproing

Purchased on during the 7/2021 sale for under $60. Got the H rated spring for standard buffer replacement. Simple install , very clean and similar weight and recoil. No annoying, distracting sensation/sound while shooting now. About 100 rounds on it, no issues, easy to clean. Will be getting the H2 rated one if I purchase a 2nd AR.

I've put about 1k rounds through my midlength 16" carbine using the H2 SRS. No complaints, but I'm not sure it was a solution to any real problem. Yes, it does reduce the audible "twang" from the buffer system. This is unrelated to the reliability or felt recoil of your rifle, all other factors being equal. But since this already works, definitely don't spend over 2x the money on the JP captured spring. Re: .50 Beowulf I was also considering the Big Bore variant (5.7 oz equivalent) for a .50 Beowulf build. However, Alexander Arms, the creator of the .50 Beowulf, states the following on their website: "In order for the .50 Beowulf® to function properly a 4.6oz buffer will need to be used with carbine length stocks and a 5.2oz buffer will need to be used with rifle length stocks." I have had perfectly good function out of a generic H3 buffer in a midlength rifle. The sound of the spring doesn't matter much next to the massive fireballs coming from themuzzle.

Perfect for your quiet 9mm build!

This is perfect for your 9mm AR build, especially if you want to run suppressed. Easy to install and runs absolutely silently. Remove the weight in the back of your bolt carrier (held in by a roll pin) or you won’t be able to charge the gun. The hammer dropping is the loudest sound from my AR9 running a Gemtech Lunar 9 can. Quality item but it doesn't work well with an Odin Works ZULU 2.0 Adjustable Stock that I intended to use it on. The secondary buffer system on the ZULU presses the Armaspec Spring and forces the rod on the Armaspec Recoil Spring to extend out past the buffer tube. To make in work on the ZULU you would have to remove the secondary buffer system an add a spacer. or get a shorter… read more buffer tube for the ZULU without the Secondary Buffer System.

A heck of a tool for your gun

A little stiff and BITCH to install with the options I tried (strike Industries antiwalk endplate, and armaspec xpdw stock) but holy cow is it quiet. I also paired it with the lube dusted areoprecision buffer tube. It's a little bit harder to pull back than a regular setup. But trade offs were made.

A picture is worth a thousand words

I don't blame the seller. They do not make this product. Armaspec on the other hand is selling this junk. After 60 rounds through my Bushmaster my rifle jammed. When I tried to clear it the charging handle was locked in place. I hade to remove the buffer tube because I couldn't remove the upper from the lower. What I found was the the capture spring catastrophically failed. I contacted… read more Armaspec and their reply was they would send me the parts to fix it. I replied "I don't want parts. I want to send the spring back to you and the six other Armaspec capture springs that I had installed in my other rifles. I have no confidence in your product and if it fails after only 60 rounds what will it do when I really need my rifle." I spent my Sunday returning my rifles back to original buffer and spring. This product in my opinion is junk and dangerous. The second reply I received from Armaspec was they would send me a new spring. My response again was "I don't want it I have no confidence in your product." Fortunately the spring didn't damage my rifle. Pictures are worth a thousand words. I have not heard from Armaspec since.

I thought these were a gimmick, but gave one a try. I compared shooting with just the basic spring and buffer setup, then swapping that out for a SRS. The difference is dramatic. The rifle behaves that much more politely and is quieter. I went home and ordered ones for each of my guns, and recommend these to anybody who wants a more enjoyable shooting experience.
