Armaspec Titanium Takedown/Pivot Pins - Titanum - ARM145-TI Review

Great upgrade

I would have these on every AR that I own. Look great,but on top of that titanium is tougher than steel, lighter than aluminum.

Perfect matching Color

I searched and tried several different brands before I tried these. Color matches my Ballistic advantage bead blasted barrel perfectly. Fit nice and snug too.

This is the better set

If you are looking at the Dirty Bird and this one, get this one. The DirtyBird has 1 issue that can be fixed with a little filing but this does not need it. For a $2 (approx) difference this one is easier to install without modifications. I read the review about changing the color and I tried it. I used a large butane torch for kitchen use and was able to get it to a nice blue.… read more Hold the torch to the part you want to change color - just the visible part is fine - and remove it and reapply. Keep doing this and the colors will change slow enough you can control it. The color will keep changing for about 1 second after you remove heat so if you're going for dark blue, JUST when it starts to change from purple. Stop. You can always add more heat but give it a few seconds. So the color change happens like this: gold, purple, dark blue (purple and dark blue is very close), light blue, yellow, green, maybe pink. I read pink is hard or not possible.

VERY nice pins

Fit and finish of pins was excellent. Obviously very light in weight help with a custom piston gun build. Most definitely recommend these and will buy again.

Ultralightweight pins

At first, I didn't like these. They are very bright, shiny bare titanium. I looked at different ways to darken them, then I remembered you can heat anodize titanium and get some very vibrant colors with a simple butane torch. The hotter you get the pin the more orange it will become, just barely get it red hot for a short amount of time for a dark blue/purple. The second one I got… read more a little too hot and came out more orange colored. Also, you only get one shot at it. I tried cooling the orange one and then reapplying heat to get a dark blue and it just stayed orange. The edges of the detent pin channel is a bit on the sharp side so be careful installing.
