About Gear Head Works Tailhook MOD 1 Pistol Brace
The Gear Head Works Tailhook Mod 1 is the pistol brace that started it all. What makes this arm brace stand out from the rest is the extremely compact size and durable aluminum construction. With the press of a button, the arm folds out to brace against your forearm and counterbalance the weight of the muzzle. Now you can accurately shoot your favorite large handgun all day long. Because it balances the firearm against your forearm, it allows you to relax your wrist and focus on trigger control. This stabilizing brace can even be set up for left handed shooters. Whether you have an AR15 pistol or Sig MPX pistol, the Tailhook Mod 1 can fit them all. Features: Machined from billet aluminum Clamps onto Gear Head Works extended buffer tubes Lightweight and durable Hardcoat anodized Compatible with a wide range of firearms Can be set up for right or left-hand shooting Counterbalance weight against your forearm Less than an inch thick and only 4.5 oz. Includes hex wrench for installation Does not include buffer tube QD sling swivel socket The Tailhook mod 1 clamps to 1.7″-1.9″ diameter buffer tubes and includes the hex wrench for installation. It is machined from billet aluminum and is hard coat anodized so it will last for many years to come. It also features a quick detach sling swivel socket so you can use your favorite sling for added stability. This brace is a quality piece. I love the simplistic design, and the fact that it can be flipped to satisfy left handed shooters is a mega plus for this lefty. It is a solid, well built piece. One does need to be sure that the buffer tube used with this brace is the proper diameter to accompany it.

This is a nice well machined piece. Just make sure you have the right pistol buffer to use with it. Must be smaller than the typical 1.25 diameter. Strike Industries makes one that would work.

Don’t waste your time with the braces that have a Velcro strap, this is best-of-breed. Excellent quality! Match this to a Phase 5 Hex 2 Buffer tube and you have the best combination possible.

The quality is there, but this doesn't fit a mil spec tube. You must get a special smaller tube for it to work. AR15discounts was good about helping me to buy the right tube.

Sturdy aluminum, no awkward velcro straps. Smooth milling. Moving parts needed a little gun oil. Worth the extra few bucks over the plastic minimalist braces.

I actually ended up with the wrong parts, makes sure if you buy the tail hook you get the right buffer, standard size DOES NOT WORK, but AR15 Discounts took care of me. Will be buying again soon!
Great Brace, Won't fit Standard Pistol Buffer Tube

This is a great brace, but the description should include that it fits a 1.17" - 1.20" Buffer tube ONLY. This will not fit the standard 1.25" dia Buffer Tubes sold here, so be forewarned, and I am not going to put a 9" Buffer Tube on a pistol build. I had to get an AR Stoner tube from MidwayUSA to use this (minus 1 star).
