About Geissele Maritime Bolt Catch - 08-153
The Geissele Maritime Bolt Catch is designed with the warfighter in mind and will work with any lower receiver designed to accept a mil-spec M16/M4 Carbine bolt catch. The increased surface area promotes ease of function when locking back the bolt or releasing the bolt after a magazine change. In addition, the extended controls add an increased functionality for left handed shooters who no longer have to break their grip to manipulate the bolt catch. Left handed shooters can easily reach the controls using the index finger of their left hand making magazine changes and locking the bolt back much more fast and efficient. Aggressive checkering covers the surface of the levers giving the Geissele Maritime Bolt Catch a textured surface that enables positive feedback to the shooters hand when being used with gloves or at night. Manufactured from properly heat treated 8620 steel and manganese phosphate coated, the Geissele Maritime Bolt Catch is intended to serve as an enhanced mil-spec replacement and assist in giving our warfighters overmatch capability with the M16/M4 carbine platform. Please Note: A mil-spec bolt catch spring and plunger are required for assembly and are NOT included. If the Maritime Bolt Catch is replacing an existing mil-spec bolt catch, please use care when disassembling the component from your lower receiver as you will need these parts to install the Maritime Bolt Catch. Compatibility with billet AR-15 lower receivers is unknown. Please also note that the extended controls of the Geissele Maritime Bolt Catch will partially cover the pin hole for the hammer, a smaller punch may be required to push the hammer pin out of the receiver from the left side, and the hammer pin should only be installed from the right side of the receiver.

Like the title says, it’s a must have for any AR I own. Do you need it, in reality no, the standard mil spec catch has done the job adequately for generations. But once you try it out, it’s one of those parts you wonder where it’s been all your life. And like every other “G-man” product adds some flair to your rifle.

I Dig the item! Geissele makes great stuff and this part lives up to that. It makes it much easier to release the bolt and also to lock it open, especially if your wearing gloves. Just remember that with this installed you will only be able to remove one of the trigger pins in the direction of the mag release.

Geissele's ambi bolt catch/release is the absolute best bolt management system on the market IMO. It's a big honking thing that provides enough length and surface area on the release paddle to give reasonable pressure to drop the bolt without struggle, while being able to maintain positive control of the pistol grip with your left hand. Just be aware most ambi mag releases might… read more not work because of the size of the catch paddle. With the exception being the Troy Industries ambi mag release, which has the release button positioned below the release bar as opposed to beind it like many other ambi mag systems. It will take getting a feel for the set up as even then you could accidentally hit the catch paddle. Just make sure to INSTALL THE MAGAZINE RELASE FIRST. This bolt catch wont allow for the installation of any mag release system if it's on the gun first due to its size. Since apparently a large number of people didnt rake that into account while putting their builds together. Bottom line, if you're a left handed shooter, this is the last bolt management system you'll ever need; and pairs seamlessly with the troy ambi mag release. Plus you can technically say you own a geissele product without having to max out your credit card? You dont have to keep reading reviews, just scroll back up and put it in your cart. Like right now go do it, you're done reading reviews. Stop wasting time.

Bolt catch is great, but boy do I wish it came with the bolt catch detent and spring. I bought this as a new PCC build, completely forgot this doesn’t come with detent and spring. Please recommend detent and spring set with the bolt catch.

The bolt catch has great quality, very large pads which is perfect for what i was looking for, only issue was that its more of a flat bolt catch, 180° from the top pad to bottom, vs most which seem to be about 210° clockwise. This causes an issue on aero m5 lowers which was my intended purpose for this bolt catch, but i will be installing on my palmeto instead.

Im pleased with the Geissele Maritime bolt catch! Its a good upgrade and the material is of good quality and its function is better than a standard mil-spec bolt catch. Im left handed so this catch is alot easier for me to use than the standard bolt catch. The price is a bit high considering how small a piece this is. It could be $5 cheaper, overall im pleased with the purchase.

It's very well made but, if you want to use a ambi mag release with it, good luck. I own a couple different ambi mag releases and they won't work with this. The bottom of the bolt release is too big, it interferes with the mag release

One of the greatest things about the AR is the ease of customization. This is a fantastic part that makes it very easy to both lock the bolt back and release the bolt. It dropped right in to my BCM 11.5 MK2 upper. Very happy with it. Perfect grippy texture on the surface and the greater surface area makes it extremely easy to hit quickly under stress. Highly recommended to everyone as long as that extra bit of pressure is not a big deal to you.

Does what it’s supposed to do. Makes it easy to engage bolt from locked position. Looks durable. Nice flat black color. Deep serrations to keep your fingers, gloved or not, from slipping. I like the bottom part of the catch the best. No more puny push nub. Now it’s easy to slam the bolt into battery.

As other reviewers have stated, the supplied pin is too big to go through the hole in the bolt catch. I reused the original pin, no problems. The bolt catch works very well. Good, large surface areas for manipulating the catch.
