Excellent for Competition and Target Shooting

The KynSHOT Precision High-Performance Carbine Recoil Damper is an excellent replacement for the standard buffers found in AR-15s with carbine-length buffer tubes. The buffer slightly modifies the traditional cycle of an AR-15 by cushioning the bolt carrier group as it completes it's travel rearward into the receiver extension. The hydraulic piston slows BCG at the end of its… read more rearward travel phase and, in doing so, modifies the recoil impulse and slightly reduces the cyclical rate of the firearm. To clarify, the actual recoil isn't reduced per se; it is spread over a longer period of time, reducing the feeling of perceived recoil. Though an AR-15 chambered for 5.56 NATO or .223 Remington doesn't have a lot of recoil to begin with, this buffer does help to reduce the perception of the little that there is. Paired with a suitable adjustable gas block (like any of the Superlative Arms Adjustable Gas Blocks), an a appropriate aftermarket buffer spring ( such as the JP Enterprises AR-15 Carbine Buffer Spring), and a little bit of tuning, this buffer goes a long way toward an incredibly soft-shooting and enjoyable AR-15 that can be configured for just about any load. There are some things to keep in mind however, regarding reliability. Adding moving parts (like those found in this buffer) to a system adds new potential points of failure. Dropping this buffer into an over-gassed firearm will reduce its (the buffer's) usable life before failure. Similarly, adding it to firearm that is under-gassed may produce issues where the firearm does not reliably cycle. This is (without additional tuning) a drop-in replacement for a standard carbine buffer. An AR-15 that functions well with a standard carbine buffer should continue to function well with this replacement. Firearms utilizing heavier buffers to reduce bolt bounce or slow the cyclic rate of the device may find that this buffer is too light to function reliably. An adjustable gas block will potentially remedy issues in an over-gassed AR-15; unfortunately, the same cannot be said for an under-gassed firearm.

I was falsly under my own assumption (my fault) that this unit was similar to an Armaspec, but it is completely different as it uses hydrolics as a secondary suspension system. NOTHING wrong with it. NOTHING. I just want systems like the Armaspec that don't have the buffer spring rubbing against the inside walls of the buffer tube is all. That's just my own personal opinion is all… read more and nothing more. But this that stated, this is also a very nice quality made buffer just the same and my confidence level is high that there are many that will love this product too.
