NBS AR-15 4.9 OZ Heavy Buffer - MAR044 Review

H2 Buffer weight

Shipped quickly and received on time. I purchased this to try to self diagnose a overgassing of a BCA upper that was ejecting at 01:30pm. As for this rifle, this buffer weight did help some but still ejected at 02:30 even after installing a David Tubb's AR-Series Flat-wire buffer spring. Since I bought two of these H2 buffer weights, I ended up replacing the 3 oz carbine buffer weights in my 1st Anderson Lower/BCA upper build and my M&P Sport II and both seem to work properly and lowered the recoil in each rifle so I could get back on target quicker. These buffer weights looks like quality buffers and would recommend if you are looking to increase the weight of your buffer and at the same time, soften your recoil on your 223/5.56 (which is minimal any ways).

H-2 Heavy Buffer Weight

I purchased this because my BCA upper I bought in March always ejected my brass at 01:30 and it annoyed me. I bought this to see if it would calm the buffer and overgassing to try to get the ejecting pattern to more of a 3:00-4:30pm position. It did not.. The Perfect Weight for my Carbine

It is not quite heavy.

I needed H3 heavy buffers, and these were 4.9 oz instead of the 5.2 or 5.3 that everyone else is calling heavy. They will work for other purposes, but not the one I had in mind. Also this item is NOT able to be broken down to swap out parts like even the CHEAP buffers generally are, so I couldn't even swap out a tungsten weight to make it heavier. Great finish for my AR 15 7.62x39 pistol build

The 7.62x39 caliber in an AR build can be picky in a carbine build be even more in a pistol build. After polishing the barrel ramp, adding an enhanced spring and Wolff extra heavy hammer strike spring the NBS heavier buffer was the icing on the AR cake. Highly reliable even with cheap steel Russian ammo notorious for their primer strike issues.

A little extra weight is good!

I built a .556 AR pistol with a 7.5 in barrel . The lower is polymer and I was concerned that recoil would best it up. I fired a few rounds with the standard buffer then installed this 4.9 oz heavy buffer. It worked flawlessly and I was happy with the reduction in felt recoil. I am going to put one in my 7.62 pistol next.

I purchased the buffer for my carbine buffer tube. At first I thought it was buffer tube that was out of spec. I went out and bought a quality mil spec buffer tube from a well established company. This buffer works great! My carbine has a carbine length gas system, so the recoil is a little abrupt and makes follow up shots slower compared to mid length gas systems, so putting on an adjustable gas block and this heavier “H” buffer solved all that. fixed my problem right up, sometimes you have to go outside the normal for gas problems. bcg's, tube length, gas hole, surpressed barrels, loads, any number of differences can cause your ar to need a change to make it act nice with ejection and pressures.

I was mistaken and assumed

I was mistaken and assumed that these buffers ahead individual steel weights inside but unfortunately I did not read the description properly and found that they were solid steel which would explain the price. They are still suited for my needs in appeared to be reasonable quality especially Considering the price. I am very satisfied.
