Not all of my rifles needed this, but at least one of them had such a tight tolerance that I had to use a tool of some sort (whatever was available) to separate the upper from the lower. The only issue I've found is occasionally the key ring will get lodged when attempting to push the pin back into place, but my fix for this was replacing the key ring with paracord. So far using… read more the paracord with this takedown pin has made my most difficult rifle to take down a breeze.

Well, first off I'll say this Takedown Pin is nice. Firm fit, so it stays in place, but still easy enough to make takedown a breeze. Now the downside. I'm a southpaw and have basic ambidexterious safeties on all my AR's. With this Pin installed deactivating the safety is a chore. My thumb tends to hit the pin first and I have to make a coscience effort to side my thumb onto the… read more safety. I'm sure over time with muscle memory, and/or possibly a more high-speed type safety, this interference can be overcome but for now I'll stick with the standard takedown pin. But for you right-handers this thing is worth the price.
