About VLTOR A5 Spring and Buffer Kit - SP-A5
The Vltor A5 Spring and Buffer Kit includes the improved buffer and buffer spring components used in the Vltor A5 Recoil System and A5 Buttstock Assemblies designed to enhance the functioning of the AR-15 carbine platform. The kit includes a Rifle Length Buffer Spring, Standard Weight A5 Buffer (5.3 oz), Lower Receiver End Plate and Receiver Extension Tube Lock Ring. The Vltor A5 Recoil System was developed at the request of the US Marine Corps as a potential future upgrade to replace the current A2 Fixed Stock used on the M16A4. The new recoil system consists of the Longer A5 Receiver Extension Tube with 7-Positions, a Longer and Specially Weighted A5 Buffer, and a standard Rifle Length Buffer Spring. The A5’s enhancements to the AR-15 operating system result in a rifle that exhibits the increased Reliability, Smooth Action Impulse and Performance for which the A2 Fixed Stock Assembly is renowned, while also offering the benefits of Full Adjustability and greater Ergonomics attributed to the M4 Collapsible Stock arrangement. The A5 Recoil System is compatible with both direct gas impingement and piston operated AR-15 platforms, and may be fine-tuned to alter a rifle’s recoil impulse or cyclic rate by changing to a different weight A5 Buffer (5 weights available). *This product only works with the VLTOR RE-A5 Receiver Extension or the BCMGUNFIGHTER A5 Intermediate Receiver Extension*

I was skeptical about this system because I already had an Aero Precision Enhanced Buffer Tube with an H2 buffer, but the added length of this VLTOR A5 buffer tube and the added weight of their buffer makes the carbine feel a lot more like a rifle.

Awesome product. Be sure to get the A5 tube or the BCM intermediate A5 tube. Smoothed out the recoil impulse and flattened the rifle significantly when doubling on paper in 3 gun.

I paired this kit with the BCM extended A5 Buffer tube and it work very well with my 16" rifle length upper. I was able to cycle through 5.56 55gr and .223 62gr factory loads with out issue. After breaking in the rifle in 2-300rds, shell ejection was at 4 o'clock and bolt lock functioned well on both load types.
