Worked great for me assembling my first lower. I read other reviews saying that these bend easily. I did not have this problem and I am a ham fisted klutz.

The tools work. They will bend with any force or abuse. They bend back easily. The hammer is small- head about the size of a quarter, but decent heft for the size and didn’t fail to do the job- Not the best but works and fits in the case. It’s nice to know though wherever this kit is you’ll have a hammer to work with. Covers any pin on a standard AR- and many or most popular… read more applications like handgun backstraps etc. I am happy with the purchase and for the price I don’t expect them to be professional grade tools. A single 5/64 professional grade punch costs half what this kit costs. If you have no roll pin punches, this will make working on your AR much more pleasant. If you have some quality punches already, or you and your gun group share quality tools, it’s still nice to have something on hand for if you just want to do this or that right on the spot. If you find yourself needing regularly or intensely to use roll pin punches- step up to the bar and pay as much as you paid for the gun or more to replicate this kit with professional grade tools.

The 1/8 inch punch in the Wheeler Engineering Master Roll Pin Punch Set, is bent. I inspected the whole kit upon receipt because I read previous reviews that other people had bent punches. These have been never used and it appears to be a manufacturing defect. I have a customer service case number submitted to Wheeler Engineering however; Wheeler is extremely slow to respond. I’m waiting to see how Wheeler Engineering responds before I go that route.

This kit mostly gets the job done. Unfortunately the dinky little hammer that comes with it is near useless, unless you enjoy spending three times as much time and energy to drive a roll pin as a conventional 10oz. ball peen hammer. The brass end is a nice touch but again, near useless. Fortunately I also have brass drift punches that work well with my 10oz. hammer. It's a good starter kit and you should be able to put together at least one gun together, but not without some of the punches starting to bend. In my case, the bending started becoming really apparent while working with an ar15 gas block. I was able to bend it back into shape but that doesn't give me any confidence for future builds. When I needed these, they were out of stock. So I signed up to let me know when they came back into stock. A couple of weeks later, I got an email stating that they were now available. I ordered them immediately. They were shipped the next day, and I received the punches withing a week. I really haven't had a chance to use the punches yet, but they appear to be well made and very… read more nicely packaged in a hard plastic case.
